Kawartha Signature Park
Please note, the newly formed Kawartha Signature Provincial Park, located east of County road 507 is closed to ATV travel.  This area was once widely used by ATV's has been closed to us under the park.  This is a very unfortunate event, but we continue to work with the Park in the hopes that they will recognize us as previous users and stakeholders of the park, like the Buckhorn Snowmobile club, which was grandfathered into the agreement.  Until such time, the park remains closed to ATV travel and violators will be deal with swiftly and sharply.

Salerno Creek Bridge Now Open
Several members of our club, as well members from the Buckhorn Snowmobile club and the HATVA club came together to redeck the Salerno creek bridge, thus allowing ATV travel to Gooderham again on the trail.  We donated $1000 to the Buckhorn Snowmobile Club, who were the project managers, to help cover the cost of re-decking.  Enjoy the trail!

ALERT: Residences upset over ATV's on roads near Bethany Hills
Several residents from the Hillsview Road area are upset that ATV's, dirtbikes and Off road vehicles continue to access there small deadend road.  These residences have taken their complaints to council and the OPP.  So please beware and stay away from this area or risk getting ticketed.  Unfortunately the popular Hogsback trail ends at Hillsview Road and connects with the trail up the Devil's elbow.  Please remember no roads are open to ATV's at this time in the old Manvers and Ops townships.  Please respect the landowners.

ALERT: ATVers Trespassing on Private Property south of Bethany
It has been reported that Dirtbikes and ATVers are trespassing on private property owned by Dufferin Aggregates (Bethany Pit) which is located adjacent to the rail trail.  This spring the Dufferin Aggregates report they have had problems with Dirtbikers and ATVers trespassing on their property and using the aggregate stockpiles as ramps.

Dufferin Aggregates are very unhappy with this illegal behaviour and have advised that they will be pressing charges to the fullest extent should trespassers be caught, either physically or on camera.

Please stay off property property.  If you don't know don't go.  The KATVA does not endorse or support trespassing on any private property and supports that trespassers should be charged to the fullest extent.  When you trespass you give us all a bad name!

The Victoria Rail Trail is a beginner trail that is used as a corridor to link to trails systems in the Northern part of the City.  It is smooth, hard packed trail that is utilized for multi use purposes.  The rail trail usage is governed by By-law 2007-025.  The North / South Victoria Rail trail corridor starts just south of the town of Bethany and travels north to Logie Street at the  southern edge of the town of Lindsay.

Please note: There is no approved link around OR through the town of Lindsay at this time.
You must trailer your ATV to the north side of Lindsay to where the rail trail picks up again at Thunderbridge Road or vice a versa you must trailer to Golden mile road south of Lindsay.

Staging /Parking areas are currently available at the rail heads south of Lindsay on Golden Mile road or along the shoulder of Willow Glen road north of Lindsay.

From Thunderbridge road just north of Lindsay you will continue your trip north to the beautiful town of Fenelon Falls.  Please stop in and enjoy the many famous restaurants, local stores, ice cream parlor and the famous Fenelon "Falls".  ATVs can park legally on the main street in any legal parking spot and can access the parking lot off of Francis Street.  Please stick to approved road link route through Fenelon Falls.

The Fenelon Falls road link starting from the south side of Fenelon Falls connects onto Murray St, turn right on Murray Street, head to the stop sign then turn left onto Elliott Street, travel past the Tim Horton's (stop in for a coffee) to Colborne Street, turn right on Colborne Street, head through the stop lights and over the bridge (the Falls) into downtown Fenelon Falls, proceed past the locks down the main street to the set of lights, turn left onto Francis street, follow Francis Street right down to the Garnett Graham Park, at the north of the parking lot the trail connects back onto the rail trail heading north.

Please note:  All road use is subject to the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990.  No passengers are allowed on the road links.  Speed limit is set to 20km /hr maximum.

Staging / Parking Area is currently available at Garnett Graham Park

After enjoying your visit in Fenelon Falls head north on the rail trail towards Burnt River, along the way stop in for an ice cream cone at Log Chateau Park, your ATV friendly trailer park, then continue to the little town of Burnt River.  After Burnt River you will continue along the rail trail to our adjoining pocket trail system called the Pinery.  The Pinery has several loop trails within it that are fun for the whole family.  This is a beginner to Intermediate designated trail system.

Somerville/Pinery Trails (Victoria Forest Municipality Owned- 10,000 acres)
This is a delicate area which requires the utmost respect by users. It is a privilege to use this system. The trail system is known as the Pinery. Most important is for users not to wander from the trail system, not to litter, start fires or smoke on the trail and not to damage the vegetation adjacent to the trails. We also remind riders to stay off designated hikers and cyclists sections in this trail system.

Once done playing in the Pinery you continue north on the rail trail to the beautiful little town of Kinmount and it's world famous fish and chip store.   Kinmount offers restaurants, gas, groceries, supplies and even a movie theatre.  On Saturday mornings in the summer enjoy the local farmers market, set right up on the trail.  After Kinmount you can continue north to the Village of Haliburton.  The rail trail just north of Kinmount is managed by the Haliburton ATV Association and applicable passes are required

Five Points System (north of Bobcaygeon)
This is a intermediate to expert trail system, which attempting without proper mapping knowledge and orientation experience, can be dangerous. Please refer to our map for detailed GPS tracking of our trails.  This system was developed and created by the local snowmobile clubs in the area (Twin Mountain & Buckhorn) . The Kawartha ATV Association is working hard with these organizations to help maintain a healthy pocket trail system. This area consists of many private landowners and crown land areas. The private landowner rights must be respected and trespassing on private property will not be tolerated.  ATVers do not have the right to enter private property anywhere without prior consent. If there is a sign posted, please stay out.  We respect the private landowner rights and will be working hard to hopefully obtain the necessary land use agreements from the appropriate landowners where there may be enhancement to our current trail system.

We will continue to work closely with partners such as the OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) and respect their request to not enter their trail systems once grooming begins.

Disclaimer - We should remind readers of the following information that these systems, other than the North/South Rail Corridor and Pinery Forest, are not at this time officially sanctioned trails by the appropriate authorities, and until such time cannot be signed or managed. Consequently, the Kawartha ATV Association does not assume any responsibility for their use or imply that there is any permission granted by the appropriate authorities for their use until they are officially sanctioned.
